Sri Vishnu Educational Society under the Esteemed Guidance of Sri K V Vishnu Raju, working for the betterment of the society is going ahead fulfilling its Mission and Vision.
Being premier Educational Institute with social responsibility and societal commitment, Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women, has taken up an innovative step towards extending its help hand to the physically challenged people. To that effect, an exclusive Research Lab, “ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY LAB” established in the college with the collaboration of University of Massachusetts (U. Mass), US to design and develop the assistive aids in addition to the existing services.
The main task of ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY LAB is to identify and develop Electronic systems and cost effective solutions which are suitable for the physically challenged people for Indian conditions. The college management has strong concern for the societal development as such it encourages the staff and students to involve in the design and development of assistive technologies to help the physically challenged.
Prof. Alan Rux from University of Massachusetts (U. Mass), USA visited the college between 13.8.09 to 20.8.09, and he imparted the essential training to the students and staff and motivated them to this noble cause. He gives training on various heart and soul aspects of assistive technologies.
A group of selected students with service motive, from both UG and PG Programmes will be given training on the assistive technologies. Later students will interact with the physically challenged people, the students will understand their physical challenge and plan their design and develops the respective aids like voice activation system, ultrasonic sensors etc. This is a kind of customization to meet the requirements of a physically challenged person.
