DEPARTMENT PROFILE

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women (SVECW) was established in the academic year 2001-02 with an annual intake of 60.The Department is accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation,AICTE, Delhi) for 5 years. The intake was increased to 90 from the academic year 2003-04 and later the intake was increased to 120 from the academic year 2004-05. In addition to this intake, the Department has 10% lateral entry students at II B.Tech. level.

The B.Tech. (ECE) program is duly approved by the AICTE and Government of Andhra Pradesh and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad. Three batches of students have graduated so far. The Department has a number of well-equipped laboratories and provides excellent facilities for learning. The Department periodically organizes seminars, symposia, workshops and guest lectures for the benefit of both the students and the faculty.

MISSION

The mission of the department is “To impart Quality Education in Electronics and Communication Engineering”.

Advanced subjects such as Wireless Communication Systems, Cellular and Mobile Communications, VLSI System Design, Digital IC Applications, Antennas and Wave Propagation, Optical Communication, Satellite Communication, RADAR Engineering, Analog and Digital Communications, Digital Signal Processing, Microprocessors, Micro Controllers, etc are offered in the department.

OBJECTIVES

To provide an accessible, high quality Engineering Education in Electronics and Communication Engineering that prepares students for productive careers, postgraduate study and lifelong learning which are useful to the society and the nation.

SHORT TERM GOALS:

  • To aim towards more than 80% placement by imparting various skills that cater to the needs of the industry.
  • To provide adequate co-curricular and extra-curricular activities/opportunities to the students those improves their organizational skills, communication and inter personal skills.
  • To provide students with a comprehensive education that includes in-depth instruction in their chosen field, which enables them to appear for competitive examinations and paper presentations
  • To organize industrial visits every year to fill the gap between curriculum & industry..
  • To sponsor/depute Teaching & non-teaching staff to acquire/improve their academic qualifications.
LONG TERM GOALS:

  • To start P.G. & Ph.D. programs in the department.
  • To undertake research and development works in leading technologies by forging alliance with various research organizations and industry.
  • To become a globally recognized center of excellence in the field of Electronics and communications.
