DEPARTMENT PROFILE

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is started in the year 2002. The Department is accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, Delhi) for 5 years. The department has established itself as one of the best departments of SVECW. The department of EEE is offering both U.G and P.G programmes. The department has number of well equipped laboratories and provides excellent facilities for learning. Department periodically organizers seminars, symposium, workshops and guest lectures for the benefit of both the students and the faculty.

Mission

The mission of the department is to develop innovative, competent, efficient disciplined and quality Electrical and Electronics Engineers and to enrich knowledge and encourage the students to become Entrepreneurs. It has a goal to be a center of excellence for development and dissemination of knowledge in Technology and Engineering for the nation and beyond.

OBJECTIVES

  • 100% pass in every subject by proactive mentoring of weak students.
  • Atleast 70% class average marks in every subject ensuring through performance in unit tests and other forms of feedbacks from students.
  • Atleast one student getting rank within the first 20 at the university level by proactive mentoring of academically strong students.
  • Atleast 80% project work of graduate and postgraduate students done in the department using hardware and software in the emerging areas.
  • Atleast one technical paper published by every faculty member during a year.
  • 5%of the students every year to be sent out for technical paper presentation.
  • 50% placement through campus selection.
  • 30% students taking part in co-curricular and extra curricular activities.
  • Atleast five teachers every year should be deputed for attending short term courses.


DEPARTMENT GOALS
    Short Term Goals:

  • To modernize all the laboratories
  • To organize at least one add on course per semester for students
  • To organize at lease one faculty development program per year to help the faculty to widen their knowledge base and deepen their understanding of the latest trends and developments in field of electrical engg.
  • To improve the departmental library facilities
  • To start PG programs in the department of electrical engineering
  • To encourage the students to take up industry specific projects
  • To use modern techniques in teaching and learning process.
  • To Place teaching / tutorial material of each subject on the Net to enable students to browse at their own place of learning.
  • To encourage the students to participate in community development programs.
  • To Impart additional coaching to academically poor and below average students.
  • To Sponsor / Depute teaching and non- teaching staff to acquire higher academic qualifications.
    Long Term Goals:

  • To become globally recognized center of excellence in fields of electrical engineering, technology and research
  • To undertake research and development works in leading technologies by forging alliances with various research organizations and industry
  • To start PhD programs in the department of electrical engineering
  • To establish State of the art research facilities in the department.
  • To develop Consultancy services for the electrical and electronic industries so as to improve job opportunities for the students
  • To encourage faculty to take up at least one R & D and one consultancy work.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND STRENGTHS:

  • The EEE Department is funded by Ministry of Non Conventional Energy Source (MNES) to establish the Renewable Energy club in the college during 2006-07.
  • Energy park with solar street lights, water heaters and Home lighting system is established in the campus.
  • The EEE Department has taken up innovative ideas and brought them into reality by making the real time model of Hydro generation, power Transmission, Distribution & Utilization running an Electric locomotive with signals.

FACILITIES:

Facilities like central computing facility, e- class room with multimedia facilities, Internet, Centrally air- conditioned Seminar Hall / Auditorium are also available. Hostlers are provided with Internet facility.
