Shri Vishnu Educational society has the distinction of introducing foreign languages for all its students. Proficiency courses in the Foreign languages are being conducted in the campus. The college has made its foray into foreign languages with the introduction of a Proficiency course in German. It is the first college to run a foreign language course in collaboration with Goethe Zentrum along with IIIT. German language classes commenced in the campus on 26 July 08.

The course received a good response with 55 students enrolling for the first level. Students of Engineering and Computer Science enrolled in this course. Two batches of students have finished their A1 level. The A2 level is scheduled on Dec 20.

The German language course is run in collaboration with Goethe-Zentrum , a German Cultural Association. The language Co-ordinator of Goethe-Zentrum trains the students. The importance of this course is that the certificates are issued by Goethe-Zentrum which are valid internationally.

Still more languages are on the anvil. Arrangements have been made to train the students in Japanese, French, Spanish and Mandarin. And what is important is that native speakers of Japan will be the trainers for Japanese.

GERMAN LANGUAGE COURSE IN COLLOBORATION WITH GOETHE-ZENTRUM HYDERABAD.

The course is based on the European Framework of Reference for Languages. A is Basic, B is Intermediate and C is Advanced. In SVES we have A1 to be followed by A2, B1 levels.

A1 Breakthrough:
Ability to interact in German using very basic vocabulary and structure.

A2 Waystage:
Ability to understand and communicate in everyday German.

B1 Threshold:
Ability to express oneself approximately in every everyday situations using a wider vocabulary and grammar.

Mode of Instruction:
A1 level and A2 levels are online courses combined with 20% contact classes. B1 will be regular instruction once a week.

Duration:
A1 level and A2 level consist of 120 teaching units(1 Teaching Unit=45 mins) each and both levels will be covered in one academic year. B1 level will be for a span of one academic year.

Evaluation:
The performance of the students is through the process of continuous evaluation. Three tests are conducted and the aggregate of the three should be 60% to qualify in the tests. The certificate for each level will be issued by Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad.
